this community is pretty dead, but i'm giving up my position as maintainer if anyone wants it. i haven't been a student at SMCC in almost 2 years and i really don't have anything to contribute to it anymore. i'd like someone who would do a better job in finding new members to use this as an outlet for campus activities and other things pertaining to SMCC. just comment and the position is yours.

[ mood | I suppose all is not foresaken ]

I doubt anyone will read this, because no one reads my own LJ. T__T

Thought I would post though, in the OFF CHANCE I might meet someone new. I need a friend. It is lonely here sometimes (ha!)

Fo' seriously, I am a geek and no one will take much interest, I am sure. Thought I would try anyhow. ^__^

(+7 for trying sound ok? xD)

Guitar Package [15 Oct 2005|03:55pm]

Hey Everyone. I live in Biddeford. I thought I might post something for an upcoming guitar player.
I've been at SMCC for 3 years now, but will be moving to Boston in 3 months to study music. I've lived in Maine for 21 years, in the same house, and the same town. It's time for a change.

Here is the deal:

1 Austin Electric Guitar
1 Medium sized amp
2 cables
1 gig bag
1 multi-purpose effects pedal (possibly)

All for $250 or BO.

The guitar was origonally $240. Amp was $80. Cables were $20. Gig Bag $30. Effects pedal $75.
$250 is a great deal. If you know anyone who is starting out, this is a great package. All items are in good condition.

You can contact me at 282-6590, ask for Shannon, or leave a message.

Open Mic Nights [02 Sep 2005|08:09pm]

[ mood | contemplative ]

Hey Everyone!

I joined the community a while ago, but wasn't very active.

But I am posting for a reason!

Open Mic Nights! There is a good reason!

Actually, last fall I helped to put on the Open Mic Nights at SMCC, which turned out to be a big hit! I am planning on doing Mic Nights again this year.

I have started to pass around a sheet of paper in a few of my classes, to have people sign up if they are interested in performing.

I know we have auido sutff, I am just not sure if I am allowed to use it independently anymore. Last year, I was on a committee and the person supervising, knew me well enough and had allowed me to use it. She is no longer there.

So, I have to do some research.

I will post more when I figure out the details.

I am just curious who is interested.

Please feel free to e-mail me at sa.paul@hotmail.com for furhter information, or if you are interested, so you do not have to put any personal information up on this site.

I'm not sure if anyone reads on this community anymore. I have a few questions and a few comments to add about smcc.

Apparently my fin. aid got screwed up in the mail. The advisior for the fin.aid office went out of town for a while and I had no idea. He didn't even call me back before he left for his vacation. Then I called fin. aids office and they couldn't figure out why my fin.aid was messed up. They said they'd send me the "gray form" in the mail by june 15. Well, I never got the papers! So I'm rushing around trying to get my papers in because the semester starts august 30. I love how they make me rush around.

For the fall semester - when does fin.aid usually come in? I've only been attending smcc since last semester. When fin. aid actually comes in, can I get my books immediately afterwards?

Congrats to laura - the mod for getting into orono. I'll miss her. *tear*

I'm probably going to be attending SMCC sometime in the next two years, can anyone give me any feedback as to how they felt there overall learning experience at SMCC was/is? It'd probably help to add that like many students attending smcc I'm not going to be your traditional college student (right out of high school or living on campus) mostly I'm looking for info on class size, instructors (knowledgeable/incompetent ect.) the courses (did they end up covering the material you thought they would or was the title and/or description completely misleading)

this should be the motto for SMCC:

"SMCC- the school that doesn't care."

we pay 25 bucks or so every semester for student life stuff, but no one ever does anything. it's quite sad.

Books [15 Dec 2004|05:47pm]

Hey everyone! This community doesn't have much activity these days, and everyone knows how much book BuyBack sucks at school. Basically, I've got books for sale and if anyone wants to buy them for cheaper than the bookstore, let me know.

- Introduction to College Algebra (MAT 050) $60 I paid $100 for the book, which comes with the CD, answer book, and a bunch of other stuff that I didn't use. At the bookstore you HAVE to buy it new because of the CD.

- Introduction to Psychology (PSY 100) $40 This book is used, but in really good shape. Some notes are highlighted in it, but not many.

- Portable MBA, Engineering is Human, Getting to Yes (BUS 105 - Intro to Business & Technology) $50 I'll sell you all 3 books for $50, I don't remember how much I paid for each one individually. All were purchased new, and all are in like-new shape.

- The Riverside Reader (ENG 111 - English Composition) $20 Again, don't remember how much I paid for this book, but this one is also new. The cover is a little bent, but all in all the book is in really good shape.

Willing to trade also, if anyone has books for Macroeconomics, Intro to Lit or Financial Accounting.

If anyone's interested, email me at queenb3904@yahoo.com.

Thanks guys!

bottles suck [15 Nov 2004|05:46pm]

ok kids, i'm warning you. watch out when you park your cars at school. i ran over a glass bottle this morning and i didn't even see it. it completely destroyed my tire. it took two hours before someone was finally able to get the tire off of my car. not a great beginning for a monday lol.

and please don't leave bottles in the parking lot!!!

that is all lol
